Cross Country
MAU-EGERTON UNIVERSITY CROSS COUNTRY
Decades of environmental degradation in the Mau Complex has led to the decline in water quality and quantity hence compromising local economies and livelihoods. Egerton University is committed to the rehabilitation of the Mau ecosystem through events such as #RunfortheMau
Currently, the University is implementing Kenya Government Vision 2030 flagship project on environment focusing on rehabilitation of Njoro River. Over the years the University initiated the restoration of riparian forest vegetation along Njoro River. In the present approach, we link our country’s strength in middle and long-distance athletics to the conservation of the Mau Ecosystem and rehabilitation of Njoro River through the Mau-Egerton University Cross Country.
The objectives of the Cross Country are:
- Raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Mau ecosystem and rehabilitation of Njoro River.
- Create environmental awareness.
