For the fifth consecutive year, Egerton University held the Mau-Egerton University Cross Country, whose main objectives are to create environmental awareness and raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Njoro River and Mau Ecosystem.

The annual event was held on Saturday 10 February 2018 and was graced by Brand Ambassadors David Rudisha and Faith Kipyegon. The cross-country event was organised in partnership with Athletics Kenya and sponsored by key corporates that included Kenya Commercial Bank, who pledged Ksh. 2 million, and APA Insurance, who pledged Ksh. 250,000.
